*321Samuel Oldham was a fireman in the employ of the city of Louisville, and had been for thirteen years previous to December 17,1909. On that day an alarm of fire was turned in at Clay and Caldwell streets about five squares from the engine house where he was stationed. His crew responded to the alarm.
