O’NIELL, Chief Justice.

On July 17, 1912, Elmer A. Farley borrowed $800 from the Suburban Building and Loan Association and gave as security for the loan a vendor’s lien and special mortgage on a tract of land in the section of New Orleans called Gentilly Terrace. The land was a part of a larger tract which Farley had bought on the 9th day of March 1900 and which he had owned ever since. The transaction by which he secured the loan of $800 consisted of a sale of the part of the land to the building and loan association and a resale by the association, reserving the vendor’s lien and special…
