OPINION

RANDALL, Judge.

This appeal is from judgments of conviction and sentences for two counts of second degree assault. The trial court denied appellant’s motion to withdraw his guilty plea before sentencing. We reverse and remand.

FACTS

On May 8, 1986, appellant Robert Kun-shier approached a woman in a West St. Paul shopping center parking lot. As the victim was putting her child into the car seat, appellant brandished a razor blade knife and stated he wanted the car.
