These patents may be discussed together, having been applied for in one application, which, by the requirement of the Patent Office, was divided into an apparatus and a method patent. They are concerned with the system of radio signaling known as the beats system, or more especially the “heterodyne” — a name created by Fessenden, which has survived in the art. While the record contains numerous symbolic equations and diagrams, in which experts in this art think and love to revel, the case is within a narrow compass from the viewpoint of the patent law.
