MEYER, Justice.

At issue in this appeal is whether substantial evidence existed on the record to support the district court’s termination of the parental rights of S.E.P. (mother) to her two young children under Minn.Stat. § 260C.301, subd. 1(b)(5) and (8) (2006). The district court, following a bench trial, terminated father and mother’s rights under Minn.Stat. § 260C.301, subd. 1(b)(5) and (8).
