The plaintiff, Peter Plati, appeals from the decision of the workers’ compensation commissioner dismissing his complaint, brought pursuant to General Statutes § 31-290a (a),1 in which he alleged that *491the defendant, United Parcel Service, had illegally discharged him. The plaintiff filed his complaint with the workers’ compensation commission pursuant to General Statutes § 31-290a (b) (2),2 which provides a right of appeal to this court from the decision of the commissioner.
