A jury found the defendant, Ruben Roman, guilty of murder in violation of General Statutes § 53a-54a,1 assault in the first degree in violation of General Statutes § 53a-59 (a) (1),2 criminal possession of a pistol in violation of General Statutes (Rev. to *7201997) § 53a-217c (a) (l)3 and risk of injury to a child in violation of General Statutes (Rev. to 1997) § 53-21.4 The trial court rendered judgment in accordance with the jury verdict,5 from which the defendant appealed to the Appellate Court.
