The defendant, Richard Dorans, appeals1 from the judgment of conviction,2 following a jury trial, of manslaughter in the second degree3 in violation of General Statutes § 53a-56 (a) (l).4 The defendant claims that the trial court improperly: (1) instructed the jury on the element of causation; (2) instructed the jury on the use of deadly physical force in connection with the defendant’s claim of self-defense; (3) denied the defendant’s motion for judgment of acquittal on the basis of evidentiary insufficiency; (4) failed to conduct an adequate investigation into alleged juror…
