VERTEFEUILLE, J.

The plaintiff, the city of West Haven, appeals from the judgment of the trial court, rendered in accordance with the report of a judge trial referee (referee), awarding the named defendant,1 Bertha Norback, additional compensation for the taking of her real property by eminent domain. The plaintiff first contends that the trial court improperly accepted the referee’s report without conducting a plenary review of the referee’s findings pursuant to provisions of the *158General Statutes.
