The plaintiff, Texaco, Inc., brought an action against the defendants, Thomas J. Golart and Marion D. Golart, seeking specific performance of an option to purchase a parcel of real property located in Groton. The defendants asserted eight special defenses,1 and by their amended counterclaim sought damages, including punitive damages, attorney’s and expert fees and equitable relief.
