COX, Chief Judge:

Appellant was tried by general court-martial, military judge alone, at Camp Pendleton, California, on February 8,1994. Pursuant to his pleas, he was found guilty of unauthorized absence, making a false official statement (4 specifications), aggravated assault, impersonating an officer, and wrongfully wearing insignia, in violation of Articles 86, 107, 128, and 134, Uniform Code of Military Justice, 10 USC §§ 886, 907, 928, and 934, respectively. He was sentenced to a dishonorable discharge, confinement for 2 years, total forfeitures, and reduction to E-l.…
