OPINION OF THE COURT
THORNOCK, Judge:
In a general court-martial composed of members the appellant was tried on a rehearing and contrary to his pleas, convicted of murder and carnal knowledge in violation of Articles 118 and 120, Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), 10 U.S.C. §§ 918 and 920, respectively. He was sentenced to a bad-conduct discharge, confinement at hard labor for life, and reduction to the grade of Private (E-l). The sentence was approved by the convening authority. Appellant is before this Court for mandato*941ry review in accordance with Article 66, UCMJ, 10 U.S.C. § 866.
