HOLLAND, Justice.

This is an appeal from a final judgment entered by the Superior Court. The plaintiff-appellee, William S. McDougall (“McDougall”), filed a civil action for the payment of workers’ compensation benefits and for related liquidated damages, attorney’s fees and costs against the defendant-appellant, National Union Fire Insur- anee Company of Pittsburgh (“National Union”), as a result of awards made to McDougall by the Industrial Accident Board (“IAB”).
