Defendants, each of whom was convicted in the justice’s court of a misdemeanor (violation of section 1 of the Los Angeles County ordinance number 439 [new series]) and sentenced “to pay a fine of Two Hundred ($200.00) Dollars, or in lieu of payment of said fine, to serve one hundred days in the County Jail, and ... to serve sixty days in addition to the payment of said fine”, appeal from the judgment imposing such sentence, contending solely that it is contrary to law in so far as it superimposes upon the straight jail sentence of sixty days coupled with the fine, an alternative jail sentence…
