¶ 1. This appeal stems from the Hinds County Circuit Court’s grant of summary judgment in favor of Mississippi Baptist Medical Center (Baptist), based on the circuit court’s finding that the plaintiff, Paula Vaughn, failed to establish a prime facie case of medical negligence. The trial court found that Vaughn had failed to establish the necessary element of proximate cause based on its finding that Vaughn’s designated expert, a nurse, was not qualified to testify as to whether the negligent acts of Baptist proximately caused Vaughn’s injuries.…
