This case arises out of a retail sales transaction on May 15, 2008, in which the defendant, Rite Aid of Connecticut, Inc. (“Rite Aid”), collected $0.24 in sales tax from the plaintiff, Pamela Blass, on the $3.96 gross sales price of four items valued at $0.99 apiece before subtracting the full face value of two $1.00 coupons she had submitted in partial payment for the purchase.
