A jury found Clifton Lamar Williams guilty and sentenced him to death for the brutal robbery and murder of a 93-year-old woman. After exhausting his state remedies, Williams filed a federal habeas petition under 28 U.S.C. § 2254, claiming ineffective assistance of counsel and that he is intellectually disabled1 and therefore ineligible for execution under Atkins v. Virginia, 536 U.S. 304, 122 S.Ct. 2242, 153 L.Ed.2d 335 (2002). In a thorough opinion, the district court rejected the petition.
