On February 2, 1934, there lived in Marlboro County a man we assume of about middle age, Alexander J. Matheson, with his wife and six children of ages from three to eighteen years. He had been married twenty years, was a life-long resident of the county, as was his wife. He had accumulated considerable property and owned a lucrative gasoline and oil business.
