This case involves construction of the judicial requirement of “contiguity” in municipal annexation under legislation now superseded.
On April 5, 1968, a petition for the annexation of lands lying in the Township of Owosso to the City of Owosso was filed with the Shiawassee County Clerk. The shape of the parcel to be annexed is highly irregular with a total of 40 sides. The bulk of the parcel consists of approximately 240 acres and is connected to the City of Owosso by a strip of land I, 326 feet in length, and 282 feet in width at its narrowest point.
