Plaintiff’s evidence tends to show the following facts: About 7:45 a.m. on 24 January 1956 plaintiff was driving his automobile in a northerly direction on his right-hand side of U. S. Highway 301, approximately eight miles north of Weldon, North Carolina. At the same time the defendant was driving her automobile in a southerly direction on her right-hand side of the same highway about the same distance north of Weldon.
