A jury convicted Matthew Ryan Wilson of aggravated assault of his father, Terry Joe Wilson, with a deadly weapon, and he was sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment. Wilson raises two points on appeal. He first argues that the evidence against him was legally insufficient to support his conviction. In his second point, Wilson complains of the trial court’s action in having responded to a note from the jury by informing the jury of the range of potential punishment of a lesser included offense during the guilt/innocence phase of the trial.
