The sole issue presented by this appeal is whether the trial court had subject matter jurisdiction to open a marital dissolution judgment for the purpose of allocating military retirement benefits pursuant to the federal Uniformed Services Former Spouses’ Protection Act1 after the statutory time period allow*220ing the opening of judgments had expired. The trial court dismissed the defendant’s motion to open and modify that portion of the dissolution decree concerning the assignment of property.
