Defendant was charged, by information, with the crime of armed robbery in that “he did, while armed with a certain deadly weapon, to wit, a gun, rob one Carl Torres. ’ ’ He admitted three prior felony convictions in 1932, of armed robbery, first degree, and that he served a term therefor in San Quentin, and a fourth previous felony of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to commit murder, committed in 1940, and that he served a term in Folsom Prison. At the trial counsel was appointed for defendant at his request.
