This is an action to foreclose a mechanic’s lien claimed by plaintiff for labor and material performed and furnished in drilling a well on defendant’s farm pursuant to express contract modified during performance.

The complaint, so far as here material, alleged in substance that the parties made an oral contract by the terms of which plaintiff undertook to dig a well on defendant’s farm and defendant promised to pay him for such work “after the completion of said job” at the rate of $1.65 per lineal foot and to furnish board and lodging to plaintiff and his crew while the…
