This is an action to recover damages for an alleged libel published by the respondent corporation in the Spokane Daily Chronicle, a newspaper of which it was the publisher and proprietor. The complaint is in the usual form, and sets forth in full the publication alleged to be libelous, and which, it is as*504serted, was printed and published of and concerning the plaintiff, and which reads as follows:
