Lester Frank Canada (“Canada”) and Michael Smith (“Smith”) were accused of jointly participating in two armed robberies. They were tried together in separate jury trials for each robbery and convicted of multiple crimes incident to each robbery. Their appeals from these convictions were ordered consolidated for oral argument.
