MELLOY, Circuit Judge.
Eric K. Lam was convicted by a jury of one count of conspiracy to commit bank fraud, 18 U.S.C. § 371, and six counts of bank fraud, 18 U.S.C. § 1344, based on an alleged check-kiting scheme involving three federally insured banks. At the close of the government’s case-in-chief, and again in a post-trial motion, Lam moved for judgment of acquittal. The district court 1 denied the motion.
