In an indictment returned by the Grand Jury of Los Angeles County, 22 defendants were jointly charged, in count I, with the crime of murder and, in counts II and III, with the crime of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to commit murder. After the entry of “not guilty” pleas as to all counts of the indictment, trial was had before a jury, resulting in the acquittal of five defendants on all three counts.
