The defendant, Luis Feliciano, appeals from the judgment of conviction, rendered after a jury trial, of murder in violation of General Statutes § 53a-54a (a).1 The defendant was sentenced to the custody of the commissioner of correction for a period of forty-five years, plus five years consecutive and nonsuspendable, pursuant to General Statutes § 53-202k,2 for a total effective sentence of fifty years.
