The defendant, Tyrone Montgomery, was charged with murder in violation of General Statutes § 53a-54a (a),1 felony murder in violation of General Statutes § 53a-54c2 and attempted murder in violation of General Statutes §§ 53a-54a (a) and 53a-49 (a) (2).3 *697The defendant also was charged under General Statutes § 53-2021C1 *34 *with using a firearm during the commission of a class A, B or C felony.
