On May 8, 2012, the petitioners, through counsel, filed a petition for extraordinary relief in the nature of a writ of mandamus, asserting that VA would not “pay Mr. Sol-ze’s awarded VA benefits to him or his valid attorney-in-fact or identify the legal authorization to not do so.” Petition at 1. In a January 4, 2013, order, the Court denied the petition. Solze v. Shinseki, 26 Vet.App. 118 (2013).
