Defendant in error, W. A. Thomson, (hereinafter called plaintiff,) brought suit in the municipal court of Chicago against plaintiffs in error, partners under the firm name and style of Thomson & McKinnon, (hereinafter called defendants,) to recover damages for alleged breaches of contracts of agency with reference to the purchase and delivery of grain. The court directed a verdict for defendants, and plaintiff appealed to this court on the ground that his constitutional right had been violated by the impairment of the obligation of the contracts.
