ROBERT E. Quinn, Chief Judge:

This case concerns the conduct of an American soldier in a Chinese prisoner of war camp in Korea. We take judicial notice of the fact that many prisoners were subjected to severe brutality or to tremendous psychological pressures which made them do and say things which they would otherwise have avoided.
