delivered the opinion of the court.

By this appeal defendant seeks to reverse a judgment entered on the verdict of a jury for $2,500 in a personal injury case.

The record discloses that defendant conducts a large department store located at State, Madison and Dearborn streets, Chicago; that about 2 o’clock on the afternoon of February 23, 1938, plaintiff, who had been shopping in the store, started to walk up a stairs of four steps located between the balcony and the second floor of the store and as she was doing so slipped, fell and sustained a fracture of the…
