Diurnal creatures though they be, humans crave periods of darkness just as surely as they crave periods of light. Certainly, two prisoners craved a respite from the continuous illumination of their disciplinary detention cells at an Iowa prison enough to file this lawsuit pursuant to 42 U.S.C. § 1983.
