Tarick Ali was employed by the District of Columbia in its Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department (“the Department”). By his personal representative, Monica Ali, 1 he brings this action against the District alleging that the District violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 42 U.S.C. § 2000e et seq., by discriminating against him on the basis of his religion and retaliating against him for opposing that discrimination.
