Jeffrey L. West appeals from the sentence imposed upon him after his guilty plea to one count of selling adulterated *530meat food products with intent to defraud in violation of 21 U.S.C. §§ 601(m)(8), 610(b)1 and 676. He claims that the district judge sentenced him in the erroneous belief that he had no discretion to depart from the sentencing guidelines. He also argues that the district court erred in four respects in applying the guidelines: by enhancing his sentence for supervising a criminal activity that involved five or more participants or was otherwise…
