Plaintiff, who ran a convenience store, was accused of stealing from that store and was arrested for theft. After the charges were eventually dismissed, he brought this tort action against defendant, an attorney who represented the store, alleging claims for false imprisonment, malicious prosecution, and abuse of process—each claim arising out of defendant’s alleged participation in events surrounding plaintiff’s arrest. The trial court granted defendant’s motion for a directed verdict on all claims and entered judgment accordingly. Plaintiff now appeals that judgment, and we reverse and…
