The plaintiff commenced this action to recover damages from the defendant for the publication of a libelous article in a newspaper published at Washington, Kan. The defendant filed an answer and cross petition in which he sought to recover damages from the plaintiff for a libelous letter written by him to the general sales agent of the Iola Portland Cement Company of Kansas City, Mo.
