Joseph E. Yeats, plaintiff in error, herein referred to as the defendant, was charged with the abduction of Georgia Fields, the minor daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Fields. At the trial he was found guilty and sentenced to serve a term of 5 years in the state penitentiary.

The evidence shows that at and before the time of the offense as charged the defendant was the minister in charge of a church at Alluwe, in Nowata county. The parents of the girl connected with this unhappy affair were active members of his church. The defendant was a man 36 years of age, the father of three children, and…
