This case arose under the Federal Employers’ Liability Act. The jury rendered a verdict in favor of the plaintiff employee and against the defendant railroad for $14,000. At the close of the plaintiff’s case the defendant moved for a nonsuit and dismissal of the complaint, at the close of the entire case the defendant renewed its motion and moved for a directed verdict and, after the verdict, the defendant renewed all prior motions and moved for judgment in favor of the defendant notwithstanding the verdict and to set aside the verdict as against the weight of evidence and as excessive.
