In April, 1942, plaintiff filed an application for determination of his liability for contributions or assessments under the Michigan unem ployment compensation "act. Act No. 1, Pub. Acts 1936 (Ex. Sess.), as amended. Upon being advised that he was liable for contributions he appealed to a referee, and from the decision of the referee to the appeal board. Thereafter from a decision adverse to plaintiff an appeal in the nature of certiorari was taken to the circuit court of Ingham county.
