ROBINSON, J.

The petitioner, Waiber Gonzalez, appeals from the judgment of the habeas court dismissing his petition for a writ of habeas corpus. On appeal, the petitioner claims that the court improperly concluded that it lacked subject matter jurisdiction over his petition. The petitioner further claims that the court (1) violated his right to counsel under General Statutes § 51-296, (2) violated his right to due process under the state and federal constitutions, and (3) abused its discretion in denying his motion to open the judgment denying the petition.
