This is a petition for a new trial upon the ground of newly discovered evidence. The claim is that an accomplice who has been a witness at the original trial subsequently recanted and exonerated the plaintiff of complicity in crimes of which the accomplice was convicted. The action is brought under General Statutes, § 5701, which contains a provision that a new trial may be granted in any cause upon discovery of new evidence.
