Master-at-Arms Second Class Laprie D. Townsend was convicted at a general court-martial of attempted unpremeditated murder and reckless endangerment as a result of an incident in which he discharged a firearm at a vehicle containing several occupants. He was sentenced to a dishonorable discharge and ten years of confinement. The convening authority approved the sentence, but reduced the period of confinement to six years.
