Jeremy Coleman, a Louisiana prisoner, appeals the dismissal of his petition for a writ of habeas corpus. We reverse and remand.

On advice of attorney Kammi Whatley, Coleman pleaded guilty of manslaughter. He retained attorney Alex Washington to file a direct appeal. The appellate court denied relief. At Coleman’s direction, Washington filed a habeas petition in the convicting trial court, claiming that What-ley had provided ineffective assistance of counsel (“IAC”) in the course of plea negotiations.
