KALITOWSKI, Judge.

A jury found that appellants Northwest Publishing, Inc., d/b/a Duluth-News Tribune, James V. Gels, Virgil Swing, and Tom Fre-drickson defamed respondent Richard J. Le-Doux, a city employee, in two news articles and two editorials published in the Duluth News-Tribune. Appellants contend the trial court erred in concluding that LeDoux was a private figure and erred in denying their motion for judgment notwithstanding the verdict or, in the alternative, a new trial, with respect to the issues of: (1) whether the news articles were false; (2) whether the editorials were…
