The defendant, Delroy Anthony Webb, appeals from the judgment of conviction, rendered after *807he entered his guilty plea under the Alford doctrine,1 of possession of narcotics with intent to sell in violation of General Statutes § 2 la-277 (b)2 and altering a manufacturer’s serial number in violation of General Statutes § 53-132a.3 On appeal, the defendant claims that the trial court improperly (1) denied his motion to vacate the judgment and to withdraw his guilty plea, and (2) refused to conduct an evidentiary hearing on that motion.
