NORCOTT, J.
After a jury trial, the defendant, James Pinder, was found guilty of the crime of murder in violation of General Statutes § 53a-54a.1 The trial court rendered judgment in accordance with the jury verdict and sentenced the defendant to a term of imprisonment of forty years.
