In June, 1968, Meares and two associates, a partnership doing business as B & M Broadcasting Company (Meares), contracted to purchase the broadcasting facilities of Radio Station WSMD-FM, located at La Plata, Maryland, from Charles County Broadcasting Company, Inc. (Broadcasting) for $100,000.00, of which $40,000.00 was to be paid in 90 days.
